AB Inflammatory  bowel  disease  is  a  serious  but  treatable  condition  in  children.Differentiating  between  Crohn  disease  and  ulcerative  colitis  (UC)  is  extremely  important.In  Crohn  disease,  surgical  management  should  emphasize  preservation  of  bowel  length  and  relief  of  obstructing  lesions.Restorative  proctocolectomy  with  colectomy  is  the  treatment  of  choice  for  children  with  UC.
