AB It  is  not  uncommon  during  an  exploratory  laparotomy  to  remove  a  small  fragment  of  the  liver  for  histologic  study.  Biopsy  of  the  liver  could  be  indicated  in  patients  who  are  found  to  have  a  nodule  of  malignant  potential  or  unexpected  liver  disease.
