AB In  the  majority  of  instances,  no  preoperative  douches  are  used.  The  symphysis,  perineum,  and  adjacent  surfaces  are  not  shaved  but  may  be  clipped  carefully  before  operation.  A  preoperative  cleansing  enema  is  optional.  Prophylactic  antibiotics  are  administered.
