AB The  more  common  indications  for  resecting  the  body  and  tail  of  the  pancreas  include  localized  adenocarcinoma  in  this  area,  islet  cell  adenomas,  cysts,  and  chronic  calcific  pancreatitis.  This  procedure  may  be  the  initial  approach  for  total  pancreatectomy  for  carcinoma  of  the  pancreas.
