AB  - Before  colostomy  takedown,  the  patient  should  have  a  colonoscopy  or  contrast  enema  to  ensure  the  absence  of  pathology  in  the  proximal  colon.  If  pathology  were  found,  that  could  be  treated  at  the  same  time  as  the  colostomy  takedown.
