In the setting of unilateral total mastectomy followed by autologous or prosthetic reconstruction, reduction mammaplasty can be performed on the contralateral breast for symmetry. In the setting of breast conservation, reduction mammaplasty following radiation therapy can be performed safely and effectively albeit with some technical modification.
