The regions of the upper limb include:

  • Deltoid (shoulder)
  • Scapular
  • Axilla
  • Anterior and posterior arm
  • Cubital fossa
  • Anterior and posterior forearm
  • Anatomical snuffbox
  • Palm and dorsum of the hand
  • Palmar and dorsal finger

The clinician should be very familiar with upper limb anatomy, as this constitutes a large proportion of all imaging.

Clean fracture ends and internally fix (if causing sufficient symptoms).

Fall onto shoulder with pain at tip and specific acromioclavicular joint tenderness.

Widened left acromioclavicular joint suggesting subluxation (Grade 2). Needs weight-bearing film.

Treatment

Sling, pain relief.

Notes

Possible recent fall onto shoulder, or old injury.
