AB Malignant  pleural  mesothelioma  (MPM)  is  a  rare  cancer  commonly  associated  with  asbestos  exposure.1  Recently,  it  was  determined  that  germline  mutations  in  BRCA1-associated  protein-1  (BAP1)  may  predispose  to  mesothelioma  development  in  nonasbestos-exposed  patients.2  Although  basic  biologic  knowledge  about  MPM  has  increased  during  the  past  decade,  and  many  new  potentially  active  agents  have  reached  various  stages  of  development,  the  number  of  novel  treatments  that  have  been  approved  for  MPM  patients  is  limited.
