AB Dr  Goldberg  and  Dr  Bleday  have  admirably  summarized  the  current  literature  regarding  the  diagnosis,  evaluation,  and  treatment  of  rectal  cancer.  In  broad  strokes,  I  agree  with  what  they  say  and  wish  primarily  to  highlight  a  few  important  issues.
